Seventeen-year-old Adam Milligan has a dead mother, an abusive father, and older brothers who go back and forth between ignoring him and forcing their presence on him. The one bright spot in his life is his best friend Michael, but Michael is an angel, and many people, Michael's father included, look down upon human/angel friendships. When Adam begins to realize that he has feelings for Michael, Michael reveals that his father plans to bond him to another angel, and that he's agreed.
Doesn't that sound like so much fun? Ugh, I'm excited to get started.

In a world where vessels are a rare and necessary treasure for powerful mages, serving boy Adam finds his world turned upside down when he's called forth to take his half-brother's place as vessel and bondmate to Michael, Archmage of Water. Will this be the doom Adam expects it to be? Will the bond even take? And, for the love of the gods, will anybody ever tell him why it's so vital that he begin submitting to the bond practically before he even shakes off the dust from travel?
